3×3 is a playful and flexible candle-holder. Consisting of separate multi-colour candle-holders in cast iron and an “pegboard” 3×3 enables the user to arrange the holders to their liking. Booth regular and tea candles can be used.

Nestor

Nestor is a concept for at compact induction cooktop designed especially with the elderly in mind. During the design process I undertook a number of qualitative interviews with persons age 60-82 to understand the needs of the target-group.

Nestor consist of a base with an easy-to-grip knob for adjusting the cooker and a pot and pan-combination with oversized handles. The pot and pan can be used separately or in combination where the pan acts as an lid.

The flexible placement of Nestor enables elderly to continue to cook/heat their daily meals themselves despite of problems with using a regular cooktop (where arthritis, failing eyesight or standing for prolonged periods can be a problem).

LIAB SG

The LIAB SG is an heat-pump controller made by the Danish company, LIAB ApS. SG is available in both a domestic (green) and an industrial version (red w/ GSM-modem).

Aside from designing the front layout (the case is an of-the-shelf DIN enclosure), I created the product branding including the friendly, smiling plug-logo for the domestic version.

Holdepunktet – information boards for the elderly

“Holdepunktet” (“The Fix-point”) is information board concept implemented at two nursing homes in Aarhus, Denmark. Holdepunktet differentiates various types of information using different bulletin boards: a magnetic board for employee portraits, a wooden board for A4-sized papers and a whiteboard for week-plans. Focus has been on making the daily updating and organizing of information as easy as possible for the employees.

Font sizes and the colour-scheme takes special consideration for the elderly. Holdepunktet is primary made out of birch plywood and MDF ensuring a low-cost yet durable product. A total of nine board-systems has been installed.

The “AAKE” Planter

“AAKE” is a compact planter for growing vegetables indoors. Consisting of a capillary-action planter and organic soil cartridges the AAKE planter makes it easy, safe and clean to create your own small garden – indoors or on the balcony. Mimicking the shape of an oversized potted plant AAKE is a fun and more recognisable object that integrates easily into any home.

Strap Stool

Strap Stool is an experimental flat-pack plywood stool. As an experiment into tectonics the whole assembly is held together using just a single nylon strap.

Common House

In corporation with the committee at the Ladegaard student dormitories I did the interior design of a new student common house. As a venue for bars, student groups and family gatherings the furniture had to be flexible and sturdy. Cues for the colours were taken form the grey, black and red tones of the building itself.
The warm red drapes were chosen to give the rather plain interior a cosy, comfortable feel at night while also improving acoustics.

Ample – the wooden amplifier

A simple class-D (Tripath TA2024) prototype audio amplifier made for the 2010 FSC Awards, Denmark. Ample is challenging the perception that amplifier has to be bulky, sheet-metal monsters. Instead, Ample is offering a more friendly form language that integrates well into a modern living-room. The controls are limited to an on/off-button and a volume-dial.

The internals are a slightly modified version of 2×15 Watt amplifier-board from Sure Electronics.
