From concept…

…to realization. The project “Holdepunktet” has now been realized in cooperation with the Municipality of Aarhus. A total of nine announcement board systems have been installed at two nursing homes in the northern part of Aarhus. They have not been put fully to use yet – that will hopefully happen in the new year. Have a look below (slightly shaky phone-photo, better photos pending…):

Happy holidays!

It’s quiet…

It’s quiet around here at the moment and there is a reason for that: currently I am doing a four-month internship at the internationally acclaimed Danish design studio Jacob Jensen Design (of B&O fame), situated in a secluded and beautiful part of the Danish countryside. Please read more about Jacob Jensen Design and the Jacob Jensen Brand by following the links.

Nestor – a compact induction cooktop

Nestor is a concept for at compact induction cooktop. The controls are designed with elderly and disabled in mind. Nestor can be placed where it is convenient for the user and take up little space on the kitchen countertop when not in use. The pot and pan is specially designed for the cooktop. The pan can be used as a lid for the pot (see rendering above) and in this way Nestor can be used as a induction kettle as well.

Group assignment – Adaptive acoustics

This motorised acoustic panel was developed in collaboration with students at Aarhus University as a part of an assignment for a Danish electronics company. The panel reacts to ambient noise and changes shape accordingly to diffuse/absorb the sound waves.

The AAKE self-watering planter

AAKE is a self-watering planter system for growing small vegetables indoors. The AAKE system also consists of bags containing a special organic soil and seed packs with planting instructions. AAKE enables the user to grow edible plants with minimum knowledge of gardening and a minimum of mess. When the soil bag is put in the inner part of the planter plastic spikes with polyester felt pierces holes in the bag. The outer, transparent bucket acts as a water container. The felt draws water from this container, thus keeping the soil moist. Refilling of the water container is done through holes in the rim of the planter.

AAKE context

AAKE in context

AAKE is conceived as an IKEA-product and is therefore optimized in terms of materials and shape. All parts are stackable and the planter is made out of recycled PE-HD from the agricultural sector.

Please note: this project is in no way affiliated with or endorsed by IKEA or Inter-IKEA B.V.
